Signs of Life

Genuine Signs of Life were witnessed on Earth Day , April 22, at the Taos Art Plaza. Chamisa Mesa High school students created an earth day full of futuristic vision. Beginning at 7:00 there were martial arts matches that harnessed and built clear, raw energy. Shortly after that, the Fashion Show began, which featured evolutionary fashion design from castoff clothing. Wearing their designs, models let you get close up and familiar with their original clothing as they worked the runway!

There was a recess with refreshments while the stage was readied for the second phase of the evening. Standing partitions full of photographs, drawings, paintings and cast metal sculpture were available for viewing. There was a brief no entry policy at the door to facilitate hearing the poetry readings. In addition, there were several readings to musical accompaniment. The door again opened for entry when the Chamisa Mesa Garage Band rocked out the evening.

Attended by approximately 150 people, the response was inspiring. Below are a few responses:

"One of the greatest events I’ve ever seen in this town...
I am overwhelmed by the talent and ability of these kids ... I have no worries about their futures or of mine in this world!"

"It was great to see you and your wonderful crew doing as great a job as ever serving the needs of our community. I was happy to see your school body of students, as talented and quirky as ever, with plenty of room to express themselves in your loving arms."
